INTEL PROSET/Wireless Software for Bluetooth Technology may break integrated/onboard bluetooth in Windows 8 (did for me, anyway). I completely lost all bluetooth function.
This might be different if you have an aftermarket bluetooth adapter, but I don't think this software is meant for Windows 8. I had to roll back to a system restore point just to regain bluetooth functionality; uninstalling the Proset application did not solve the problem. It's been awhile, but as I recall I couldn't uninstall the program, even in safe mode, tried reinstalling it, repairing it.uninstall kept failing.
