Ya know that part of your butt crack that sometimes shows when you bend over?? Mine is KILLING ME!!
Intertrigo is common in the skin between the buttocks (butt crack), which can become very raw, itchy, and painful. It may appear red or reddish-brown, and in severe cases the skin can crack, bleed. Since you feel sore at top of butt crack, it's not an anal fissure but it could be a pilonidal cyst. It may or may not bleed, but it does when it is a bit raw. It is obvious to have a sore butt crack due to this condition, but you need to evaluate the situation and know what it actually is to find the right treatment option.
It's very sore and red. This happened long ago before my flare and I actually thought it was because I changed brands of body wash! I thought it may have been some sort of skin rash or something.
But, in the end. I think it is Colitis related or something. The only thing that I find soothes it is moisturizer and a warm bath. Anybody else have this issue??
Jenn 26/female Ulcerative PANCOLITIS diagnosed 2004 Asacol 3 pills once/day Daily Vitamin for Women and Folic Acid Flare March-June 2008. Pretty much in remission again July. Mine is doing the exact same thing.except mine is more the middle-to-lower butt crack.lol. It has been hurting for about a week now. At first, my vagina area hurt then it moved to my butt crack.
I have had both areas hurt before and it usually lasts a few days, then goes away on its own. I was thinking a possible mild yeast infection, but I don't know.
Diagnosed with UC March 2007; yet to go into complete remission Asacol 4 tablets 3x/day; Rowasa every 3-4 nights; Canasa every 3 nights; Nature's Way Primadophilus Reuteri 1/day; Chewable multivitamin; Metamucil; Viactiv; Zinc supplement every few days. Undeleteplus key. Sounds like some kind of rash, either fungal or bacterial. I got the same thing several months ago and mine started when i used the flushable wet wipes for the first time. I tried antifungal creams, diaper rash creams, antibacterial creams, etc.
(sorry, can't recall which one finally did the trick) it took forever because you want to give one thing a try for more than just one day. But it finally went away with one of those types of products and without a trip to the doc. Everyone kept telling me to use the A&D diaper stuff but i'm positive that one didn't help. Good luck, no fun indeed! 29, happily married, stay at home mom to 2.5 year old son. Due to have another boy 9/17/08 UC (probably pancolitis, but no c-scope yet), diagnosed June 2006, started having major symptoms sometime in January 2006, about 3 months after childbirth.
2nd flare (minor) may 2007 after taking caprylic acid for 2 weeks. -Prednisone 8/28/06-2/28/07. And again may '07, 8 week course. Asacol, probio, ground psyllium husk, prenatal, folic acid, cal-mag may you live all the days of your life.
I use the wet wipes too. I use a little bit of baby powder(cornstarch kind)and make sure that it reaches where it needs to be.
Not too much, just a little. - DXed with 'left sided' UC in 1998. DXed with 'proctitis' Oct. 2007 - Sulfasalazine 4 500mg tabs twice daily - 500mg Vitamin C, 1 Multivitamin, L-Glutamine - Max Acidophillis EC Capsules 350Mg(7 types of bacteria with over 42 billion viable cells) with 50 Mg colostrum & 50 Mg FOS(fructo-oligosaccharides) - Experimenting with this or that on occasion. Always open to new ideas.
- Colonoscopies - 2 (Due for my next one ASAP). I use A&D ointment (the white zinc oxide kind) for baby diaper rash. Oh yeah.and a big old panti liner because it's really messy. But it does the trick usually. I get a little over zealous at times when I'm wiping (especially when in flare).
I also use baby wipes at times. Age: 48 location: Seattle, Wa currently in small flare, tail end of colon Diagnosed with UC in June 2006 Medications: Asacol 3 pills 3 x/day, Cortifoam at bedtime Supplements: vitamins, probiotics No. Of colonoscopies: 1 Originally diagnosed with moderate UC, pancolitis. Thanks everyone. Lol Didn't know it would get sooo many replies!!

LOL Thanks all! Jenn 26/female Ulcerative PANCOLITIS diagnosed 2004 Asacol 3 pills once/day Daily Vitamin for Women and Folic Acid Flare March-June 2008. Pretty much in remission again July. What about one of those cysts you can get on your tail bone. I forget what they are called but I know a few people that have had them. They are usually right around where your butt crack starts.
26 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid.
