  Say what you will about X-Plane\'s default clouds, but they have some subtlety. They\'re not just perfectly white cotton balls, and they fade away and get less detailed as they march off to the horizon.

  

  SMP\'s clouds look a little like someone has just cloned the same cloud out to the limits of your view distance, when they suddenly disappear. Additionally, to get them to look really good takes a lot of horsepower. I\'ve got an i5-4690K and an ASUS Strix 980, and I was getting low, choppy frame rates with the cloud draw distance set high.

  While XP\'s default clouds can kill fps, the sim never gets choppy. Maybe if I had an OC\'d i7 and a Titan, things would be different. I am really enjoying it so far. While i had to lower my texture setting from very high to high to be able to run it, (late 2013 MBP 15 inch retina) I have had some really great flights in IMC. There is much more immersion while flying around and through clouds.

  I really like the overcast layers. My x-plane flying has even changed because i am now making decisions based on arrival weather. I had to go missed for the first time in as long as i remember last night! I am really enjoying it so far.

With some inputs from friends and before you know, the impression has reached over 6000 words.
