Hi Hi I have just purchased a used Samick stratocaster style natural timber electric guitar. Pictures are below It has a serial number 2041466 stamped on the back plate. I have googled and cannot find any reference to guitar serial numbers even though Samick are one of the largest guitar makers in the world??? Is this a 1966 model? Was it one of the earliest stratocaster styles How do I read the numbers for the details of the guitar please? Is this guitar collectible and what would you approximate the value to be?

It is in great condition and has certainly been played and aged. Any information that you can share would be most welcome Thanks Trevor.

All I can tell you is what my references say and by-the-way, the SSM-1 LH was discontinued in 2001, which means manufacturing was done prior to 2001 and not post 2001. The SSM-1 manufacturing dates were from 1994 to 2001, so the SSM-1 LH was most like made during the same time span. Best I can do, kcbuck Also, Fender went from the 3 bolt neckplate to the 4 bolt neckplate for their post 1981 models and your copy has the 4 bolt neckplate. Ergo, I don\'t believe it can be any earlier than that, which also falls into the 1994 to 2001 manufacturing dates of the Samick SSM-1. I used to have a Gibson SG but it just felt so different than my other guitars; LP, Strat, Jaguar, Martin, Hagstrom, etc, etc, etc, because the fingerboard was set higher up on the body that I sold it.
