Drivers backrest for Vulcan 900? I have found a backrest from Protac for the 900 classic LT and they said it wouldn't fit on the 900 regular. Does anyone know of a drivers backrest that will fit the Vulcan 900 Classic? Find great deals on eBay for vulcan 900 driver backrest. Shop with confidence.
I would go with the Utopia if I felt the need for a driver backrest. You can pull it off quickly if you are only using one for trips and such. It might be a little large for everyday use. Thanks for the tip! I didn't know they even existed. However, I really feel the need to ask you why you would prefer the Utopia? A lot more installation work, a bit higher cost and you need to 'damage' the stock seat.
The Protac is also removable in an instant (without tools) and doesn't require any irreversible installations. The Utopia looked a bit more comfortable though. Someone had a protac a long time ago. Said it was nice. Can't remember if its one or 2 mounting points though. I'd only be nervous if it were one mounting bolt and I were a heavy guy. If its 2 bolts or you're not big then do it.
Also as an FYI it won't work if you have the aftermarket strut covers for bags unless they changed their design from a couple years ago. Might want to call and ask if that applies to you. They might just need the measurement to make it work.I'm 165lbs so that shouldn't be a problem I guess. I have the k-drive saddle bags and they use the stock struts and they're pretty far from the fenders as well, so I guess that shouldn't be a problem either? Thanks for the tip! The Utopia looked a bit more comfortable though. You can just throw it in a saddlebag if you want if off the bike. It is similar to how Mustang, and Corbin, and Hartco and others add a driver backrest. I wish someone would make a backrest like I had on my 1977 Yamaha XS750 triple. Pixma mp620 driver. The backrest was integrated with a luggage rack the backrest could slide forward to becom a rider backrest if riding solo which would also allow more luggage to be strapped down. I've discovered a compatibility problem with the Protac backrest and my Mean Streak, and that's that there probably isn't enough room on the shock bolt.
I have exchanged the stock shocks to VTX shocks, which are a bit wider on the bolt, and I also have the k-drive saddle bags which also mounts on the shock bolt. I remember we had problems to get the nut on even there, and with the backrest I will have to exchange the bolt (if it's possible) in order to fit the Protac. I think I'll have a closer look at the Utopia after all, I just need to find someone who can make the installation 'cause I'm not sticking the knife in my saddle.
